This project aimed to promote environmental consciousness among school children through a suite of engaging, print-based educational tools. Commissioned by Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, it addressed the growing need for awareness around waste segregation, plastic reduction, and zero-waste practices using storytelling, interaction, and visual learning.
Lack of waste segregation remains a complex challenge for indian cities. This has a cascading effect of inefficient recycling, environmental pollution, and health hazards. In urban communities, especially among young students, there was a significant knowledge gap in both understanding and practicing proper waste management—particularly in distinguishing between dry, wet, and non-recyclable waste types.
To design an educational toolbox that simplifies complex ideas about waste and sustainability, making them accessible, memorable, and actionable for children.

Field visits to schools, stakeholder conversations with educators, the municipal waste management department, and co-design sessions shaped the content and format. Each output was iteratively designed to ensure relevance, cognitive clarity, and usability for its target age group.
Multiple formats including a comic book, game activities, miniature passbooks for tracking waste, pop-up books with interactive bins, miniature greeting cards, and assets like posters, hoardings, stickers, and badges, were developed to build a consistent, immersive learning ecosystem focused on project values.
